Throughout our website you will find "Subscribe" buttons and links, and you may wonder what these are for. The Hilco Industrial website utilizes RSS to help keep our buyers up-to-date on our auctions and news events.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. With RSS you will receive the latest content from your favorite sites without having to visit that particular site, or sign up for a newsletter that will only clutter your inbox. Read wikipedia’s definition of RSS.

You don’t want to miss out on our next machinery auction, but you don’t have time to come to our site everyday?  Would you like to pick and choose what type of auction update you receive from us? You can! Subscribing to RSS is much like subscribing to a newspaper or magazine, only it happens online.

How to sign up for a reader:
In order to receive your subscription to an RSS feed, you must have a way to read it. An RSS reader, or news aggregator, will retrieve syndicated web content published by blogsites, video blogs and media web sources such as news sites. Some popular and free readers are:
Google Reader
My Yahoo
Bloglines

Newsgator
My MSN
Technorati

Windows Live

How to subscribe:
Once you have a reader, the next step is to subscribe to your favorite website or blog RSS feed. You can subscribe to an RSS feed by clicking on the subscribe symbol or a text link, such as ‘Subscribe to our RSS feed’. You can also choose what RSS feeds you want to sign up for, or create your own. Some readers require you to copy and paste the subscription link into your reader, or will do it automatically. Since every reader is different, please refer to your reader’s help section.

Now you’re rolling:
Once you have subscribed, that site will then send the latest headline and a summary of the post to your reader. If the headline looks interesting, you can click through to the website and read the whole post.  If not, you can scroll through your reader and pick and choose which content you would like to read. It’s that easy!
